Paint is 90% prep, 10% paint. A bad prep job looks fine for a year, then the flaws show: peeling at the edges, bleed-through from old glossy paint, texture from unsanded patches. Smooth's prep includes: repair all drywall/plaster defects, wash all surfaces, sand glossy previous coats, prime stains and repaired areas, caulk all gaps, and mask everything.
We paint with Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams premium lines (Regal Select, Aura, Duration, Emerald). These cost more per gallon but cover in fewer coats and last longer in high-traffic areas. Cheap paint is a false economy.
Usually 2 coats over primed surface, sometimes 1 if going dark-over-dark in the same line. We don't cut corners here — 1 coat on a wall color change always shows.
Technically yes, but we almost always recommend removing wallpaper first. Painted-over wallpaper bubbles and peels within a few years.
Yes — part of prep. If it's major damage we loop in the drywall crew. If it's holes, dings, cracks under 1/2", the paint crew handles it.
