New Hampshire homeowners save 75% on insulation and air sealing through NHSaves®, up to $6,000. Start with a $100 Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® audit; Smooth completes the work and handles the paperwork.
NHSaves® is New Hampshire's unified energy-efficiency program, jointly administered by the four NH electric utilities: Eversource, Liberty Utilities, Unitil, and NH Electric Co-op. Whichever utility you have, the rebates are the same.
For insulation and air sealing, the main program is Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® (HPwES):
If your household is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, you may qualify for Home Performance Direct (income-eligible), which can cover 100% of weatherization work. Community Action Agencies also administer free weatherization through WAP for qualifying households.
Federal Section 25C tax credits expired December 31, 2025. The NH HEAR program (funded by the Inflation Reduction Act) is approved but not launched — expected mid-Summer 2026. Projects started before HEAR launches are not eligible. NHSaves® rebates are active and unchanged.
Yes. NHSaves® is funded by NH ratepayers through a system benefits charge, not federal dollars, so it was unaffected by federal changes. The $100 audit, 100% air sealing coverage, and 75% insulation rebate up to $6,000 remain in effect.
No. NHSaves® rebates cover approved cellulose, fiberglass, and rigid foam. Spray foam is treated as a premium upgrade outside the rebate envelope — we often pair it with rebated air sealing to hit both cost and performance targets.
Yes. The same rebate amounts and rules apply whether you're an Eversource, Liberty, Unitil, or NHEC customer.
NH DOE is targeting mid-Summer 2026 for HEAR program launch. HEAR will add up to $8,000 for income-qualified households on top of NHSaves®. Projects started before HEAR launches won't qualify for HEAR retroactively.
Not for the NHSaves® rebate — the $100 HPwES audit is required. But you can hire us directly for non-rebated spray foam or other work without an audit.
NH doesn't have a statewide 0% loan (unlike Mass Save®'s HEAT Loan). Some utilities offer on-bill financing at modest rates; terms vary. Most homeowners use a home equity loan or pay out-of-pocket for the residual.
We'll scope your rebate-eligible work and any non-rebated upgrades in one free estimate.
